Diamonds Graduating Senior Scholarship Program

Girl Scouts – Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas is committed to advancing leadership opportunities for its girl members after high school graduation. In support of this commitment, Girl Scouts - Diamonds has established the Diamonds Graduating Senior Scholarship Program.

Girl Scouts - Diamonds will award continuing education scholarships to graduating senior Girl Scouts who epitomize the Girl Scout Mission and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Only Diamonds graduating senior Girl Scouts may apply for this scholarship.

 Congratulations to our Six 2015 Girl Scout Scholarship Winners.  Each girl received $1000 towards her college education!

Sierra Westberg - Arkadelphia - Ouachita Baptist University 

Caroline Honea - Little Rock - University of Arkansas 

Amber Fulks - North Little Rock - University of Central Arkansas 

Emily Darnell - Maumlle- University of Central Arkansas 


The number of scholarships available and the scholarship value(s) will be determined each year based on current funding and will be announced at the annual luncheon held to honor Diamonds graduating seniors and Silver and Gold Award recipients.

Scholarship awards must be used within one year of high school graduation; award checks will be disbursed directly to the accredited academic institution (college, university, technical or trade school) to be applied toward tuition and/or text books. No funds will be given directly to recipients. Funds not used within one year of high school graduation will revert back to the Girl Scouts - Diamonds Scholarship Fund.

2014 Diamonds Scholarships Available*

Up to six (6) scholarships in the amount of $1000 each will be awarded in 2014

Eligibility Requirements

  • Girl Scout Ambassador graduating in current academic year• Minimum Grade Point Average of 2.0
  • Currently registered member of Girl Scouts – Diamonds for a minimum of one calendar year at the time of graduation
  • Accepted to attend an accredited institution of higher education (college, university, technical or trade school) during the calendar year following high school graduation (Proof of acceptance will be required before funds are dispersed)

Guidelines for Consideration

  • Strength of community involvement
  • Strength of commitment to Girl Scouting (years of membership, level of participation, Silver and/or Gold Award recipient, etc)
  • Scholastic record (GPA, class rank, class difficulty, etc)
  • Extra-curricular activities (leadership roles, civic organizations, student government, athletics, etc)
  • Completed application
  • Personal essay describing what the Girl Scout Leadership Experience means to you and how it has helped prepare you for the future
  • Personal references 

Application Process 

Applications are available on the Girl Scouts - Diamonds website. Completed applications and supporting documentation may be submitted via email or USPS, following these procedures and deadlines:

Email: Scan and email documents as attachments to Emailed applications must be submitted by March 12.

USPS: Mail documents to: Girl Scouts – Diamonds Scholarship Program

Mailed applications must be postmarked no later than March 12.

Please note: Neither incomplete nor applications received after the stated deadline will be considered.Order of receipt will not affect scoring.

Supporting Documents

  • Completed application, including personal essay
  • Official high school transcript Acceptance letter to accredited institution of higher education(college, university, technical or trade school) if available at time of application
  • Three letters of reference/recommendation from adults who are not relatives. One each of the following: 
  1. 1. Girl Scout reference (may not be current Girl Scout staff) 
  2. 2. Academic reference 
  3. 3. Personal/character reference 

Selection Process 

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by review committee comprised of non-Girl Scout professionals representative of the Council’s jurisdiction.

Committee members will base their decisions upon the requirements listed, girls’ essays and personal references. Decisions of the committee will be considered final; all applicants will be notified of their status. 

Award recipients will be required to provide proof of acceptance to an accredited institution of higher education (college, university, technical or trade school) to the Diamonds Council as soon as available.
